Hiking
Mt. Tapyas
Mt. Tapyas, also known as the hike to the cross, is a short do-it-yourself hike in Coron Town. The path up starts just a couple blocks from Neptune Dive Center. It will take 30 minutes or so to climb the 718 steps up to the top. The summit is only 210 meters above sea level, but offer awesome views of the surrounding bays and islands. Our recommendation is to go in the late afternoon. The sun setting behind the islands is something you won't forget. Don't forget to bring your camera.
Mt. Tundalara
The summit of Mt.
Tundalara is 640 meters above sea level. It is the highest
point in the Busuanga and the second highest point it
Palawan. The trip to the top takes 3 to 4 hours. A
guide is needed to navigate the trail. The view from the top
is a great reward. On super clear days you can see the
island of Mindoro, our neighbor to the east.
Mt Lunes Santo
Located in Malbato is Mt. Lunes Santo. On your way up the mountain trail, you can find rare flora and fauna native to Malbato. There are four stations along the way to the top that offer different windows into the wildlife of the area. On your way down the mountain, stop by the local chapel and have a dip in the nearby stream to cool off. Depending on local weather, there may be some areas that require wading through water.
Kululuwang Falls
Kululuwang Falls was recently discovered deep in the forests of Kingfisher Park. The leisurely hike is two hours and will take you through open fields, sloping hills, and towering forests. This is a nature lover's paradise. Along the way you can see rare plants, tons of birds, endemic frogs, turtles, freshwater crabs, monkeys, and if you are lucky wild boar. The water at the falls is from a natural spring and clean enough to drink. Good shoes are a must as you will be crossing streams and the trail can be slippery.
